Bush staked his entire presidency on this war. He didn't "break" the UN, he went through the formality for public opinion sake (here and abroard), gave them a few months, and now is going to move on no matter what they think, the main reason being he wants to attack prior to the hot weather which begins in March-April. Remember our invading troops may need to wear haz-mat suits. Very hot and heavy.

Bush does have the power to do what he likes with the biggest military in the world. And he knows what a loser he'd look like if he backs down and waits another year. He must go this year also because he may need another war before the election in 2004 to dominate the media again and take vpoters minds off domestic issues. It worked in November and I'm sure they're considering it again. It is a political strategy and politics is dirty business. besides Iran has tons of oil too and supports terrorists to boot.

Expect him to try and pick a war with Iran going into the 2004 election season. That's my prediction anyway. But will voters buy it next time? All depends. A lot of things could happen between now and then, pro or con.
