You've written nothing to contradict my appraisal. Your main argument against invasion to me has thus far been "it will be ugly afterwards." Fear.

[From our position as undisputed world super duper power, we have nothing to fear from anyone, except the thought that we will be fighting the war on terrorism to the end of days if we follow our present line of eradication only thinking.]

We have nothing to fear from anyone? LOL! That is laughably naive, as if September 11th didn't completely and utterly dispel that notion. We have MUCH to fear...

Derek,

This is classic. We both fear the exact same thing, that we will suffer further terrorist attacks, and yet you try to make my fear negative, while making your fear seem positive.

This is textbook polarization:

THEY are fearful, therefore cowardly, yellow, probably sneaky too.

WE are concerned enough about our homeland to be just a bit fearful, but our apprehension will make us strong, strong and free.

This is how propaganda is built.

On your last point we agree:

...give us some breathing room for the heavy dose of "Soft Power" to be administered in large doses.

Soft Power is another name for waging peace, to my mind, and a good thing.
