Pakistan Minister: End War on Terrorism

The end game of the war on terrorism will have to involve Pakistan. After all, it was the Pakistan's ISI that gave rise to the Taliban. And the sympathies of the Pakistani people lie solidly with the remnants of the Taliban and Al-Queda who find a safe haven there. The last poll I read had something like 94% of Pakistanis having an unfavorable opinion of America.

Musharraf knows that the end game will involve Pakistan. Therefore, he is trying to hedge his bets by visiting Russia now, the first time by a Pakistani leader in more than 3 decades.

Any military action in Iraq is enough to trigger a violent upheaval in Pakistan. And Musharraf knows that.

No one is in more danger than the Pakistani leadership on account of America's military action - whether it be the war on terror or military action in Iraq.

Pakistan sowed the wind by letting its ISI run amuck in Afghanistan for years. Now it's time to reap the whirlwind.
