>>>>>>The conquest of Iraq will not be a minor event in history: It
will represent the introduction of a new imperial power to the
Middle East and a redefinition of regional geopolitics based on
that power. The United States will move from being an outside
power influencing events through coalitions, to a regional power
that is able to operate effectively on its own. Most significant,
countries like Saudi Arabia and Syria will be living in a new and
quite unpleasant world.<<<<<

This is the "Core" of what will happen as an outcome. We have discussed this before, and a lot of objection has come from the fact that the Administration has not spelled this out. They would be fools to talk about this.

I see that Romania and Slovenia announced today that Iraq had tried to buy banned material from them, as Powell said. It will be interesting to see if we publicly announce what we find about Germany and Frances involvement in sales to Iraq, or whither we will keep it private and use it to pressure those two Governments.

Let's hope that no German Business turns out to have sold equipment and material to Iraq that could be used to make poison gas.
