  Not sure if this is news or not...
  G0177325, (interesting name!)
  News is told in words, and puzzles are made of pieces. Of course this is news! It's just a small piece of a bigger story.
  I believe that the big puzzle (Continued...)

  A quick thought.
  The main reason price cuts happen is because new faster chips come in & push everything else down.
  So, if there aren't any price cuts until October, then there will probably not be any new NW CPU speeds until (Continued...)

  From Microsoft: I see their support much in the way I saw support for powerPC and alpha. I think that x86-64 has a long road ahead. Anyone can pledge support, Microsoft has done it many times before. Actually getting it is going to be the trick. (Continued...)

  I think that a lot of people are buying in too heavily on these inflated model numbers
  Beetred,

  DY,
  I think you got the general idea of my post, but then in some of the make-believe #'s, you were WAY off.
  You said: 1P -> 2GHz SH = 3GHz Xeon 2P -> 2GHz SH = 3.4GHz Xeon 4P -> 2GHz SH = 3.8GHz Xeon 8P ->  (Continued...)

  I've heard it that AMD could hit 4000+ in Q1 03. I didn't think it sounded right, seems ridiculously aggressive. I wonder if I could build my own beach with the bags of sand that AMD is dishing out on Hammer... (Continued...)

  The 2 Processor Hammer with 16 GB should only cost about $10K (assuming 2K for Memory, 2K for Motherboard and 6K for 2 Processors, not including Disks in any of these comparisons). I wouldn't buy this because it has the same power as the old one. (Continued...)
