The problem I have with waiting or more inspectors is that Saddam doesn't intend to disarm, never has never will. I don't think it would matter if we put a 1000 inspectors on the ground. Worse what do you think he would do if they actually found something? Saddam will either have them killed on the spot starting the war or he will kick them out again - eventually starting a war. I think when it comes to war your speculation above as to what his reaction will be to counter certain moves on our part is a luxury we can't afford. I think war should be started purely on the facts and where possible, we need to do everything we can to prevent it. War should be the absolute last maneuver used on our part IMO. If he was just dragging his feet on disarming that would be one thing - but I think Powell made the case he has no intention of disarming. I think he will say "no" right up til the brink and then he will cave. The Germans and the French are being foolish and obstructionist. I think the Germans have financial transactions to hide and the French - will always attempt to counter US political power where ever and when ever they can. I don't know about the French......I think they are the spoiler esp. to anything American. I think the Germans are sincere.......Schroeder's position reflects what was the opinion of the German people last fall. That opinion may have changed......Schroeder's party coalition lost big in recent state elections. We cannot just keep troops in the desert for another year, the time to act is being forced upon us by a confluence of circumstances including politics and nature. That's one of the reasons why Bush sent them over. He's making this a fait accompli.......and making like we don't have a choice but to go forward. I won't let a person like Bush force me into something I don't want just because he wants it so bad he's about to pee his pants. ted
