Seasonally adjusted retail jobs increased 101,000 from 23,148,000 to 23,249,000. The unadjusted number of jobs actually fell 973,000 jobs to 22,817,000 from 23,790,000. Similar upward adjustment for government jobs, which actually fell if not adjusted for their seasonal factors. Instead of a rise of 4,000 jobs in the seasonally adjusted series, the raw number for government jobs fell by 426,000. bls.gov
