well, I think maybe you have said a lot here:RMR got crushed in the rapidly falling interest rates - NLY has been through that period, and while they did miss the last quarter, they have done very well for a long time in that environment. just look at their chart.

that being said, I have to believe that the chart is in a topping mode, and I would never buy to hold. if you read Annaly's blurb they hold a wide range of mortgage security types and have never put all their eggs in one basket - that's why I think they will always be a good income vehicle to own, though their stock price will undoubtedly be quite volatile.
