I've gone long and short numerous times, but never for long on any trade. Also bought puts numerous times when I thought the risk of being wrong on a short was too great. Are those naked calls you're selling? Lots of brokers won't let you do that. Never could understand that. Why is that riskier than shorting? Or selling naked puts, which lots of brokers do allow?
