Aus, benefits have been greatly overexagerated Certainly not by me. Nobody is claiming mortality benefits over nitroglycerin - indeed there is a (weak) argument that the trials showed it to be a little worse. However, it is clear that it is easier to use than existing drugs, and hospitals can likely save a little money by using it. Further, it almost certainly is safer than Milrinone and other inotropes, and works somewhat more quickly than nitro. So it's not a breakthrough drug, but it doesn't have to be given the large size of the market and the absence of any branded competition at all. If it works marginally better and costs marginally less to use (because less monitoring needed), then that's all you need to sell a lot of drug. Peter
