Yes, there are. But there is so much "Doom and Gloom" going on from the anti-war types that a look at the up side is needed, IMO. The key to this war is speed, IMO. Hackworth found out when he went to Vietnam that the tactic the VC had adopted to beat us was to get in so tight next to and among our troops that we could not use our Arty and air on them. It was called, "belt buckle" tactics. And it worked very well.
If we move very quickly and let the Arty and the Air clean up our flanks, the Iraqis will never have a chance to use WWD on us. Chemical warfare works best on a stationary enemy. Nuke is only effective on a stationary, massed, force.
Whatever date most people think we will attack, expect it sooner. Deception is critical. If we are not in Baghdad in 24 hours, we have done it wrong. I know that Cheney knows this,he listened to the right people, and so does Rummy. Our top Generals should have this in their genes. The Marines all know how important this is. They switched their "Warfighting" doctrine over to it.
But when I look at the "Grant takes Richmond" approach that still was used in Gulf one, I have my doubts. |
