Hey rkral, I think you missed my point. My point was that if an owner of a small business makes decisions about giving out options without understanding their true cost to his wallet, then he/she will not be happy when it comes time to cash in on all his/her hard work. He/she may think his/her shares are worth one thing, when in reality they are worth much less. That's why I believe expensing options should not be optional, rather it should be required. Pun intended. :)
