No, I don't at all, clearly genetics are probably a factor in anything from susceptability to poisonings to heart failure ceteris paribus. My point about the explosion in incidence is simply that it should be reletively fruitful for researchers to look and see what probable the cause was/is.... [which IMO looks like they basically have in many ways].

then perhaps use genetics to screen for people who simply need to NOT DO those things... even if it's simply things like diet, exercise, working manual jobs rather than desk, etc.

So where many diseases seem to have been around all along and pop up more nowadays due to longevity, here we have a case where sickness has actually increased due to factors that are presumably preventable, and have been observable. The research seems somewhat backwards.

Agreed, but that IS what SRI's have pretty much been all about... not that it is the drugs fault.
