Here is where you are wrong. Gore technically received more votes, but that is meaningless because the election was run under the EC. Do you understand this? Please take off your political glasses and say yes. <g>

First, I have said repeatedly on this thread that I vote as an independent.....yes, my leanings are more liberal than conservative but when a conservative shows some class, I can go for it. So this not some partisan asshole making a complaint.

Secondly, since I turned 21, I have voted in every election. I take my responsibilities in this democracy very seriously. In 2000, I voted for A. Gore who got more votes than Bush, and watched him lose due to some bs in the state run by Bush's brother and the EC. It is two years hence and I am still pissed about that unseemly turn of events. This country behaved as if it were third world.

The Constitution had put in place provisions to cover a circumstance where the outcome of an election becomes protracted. However, the GOP was anxious to get this one resolved quickly. They used fear to incite the public and got the election shut down as quickly as possible. It was one of the more disgusting periods in this country's history.....ranks right up there with the internment of Japanese Americans and slavery. They were lucky Bush ran against someone like Gore......had it been someone else, he might not have given in so quickly.

And I am not the only American who feels that way.

Had the election been run as a popular election, maybe GWB would have won by a whole percentage point. Or maybe Gore would have. They would have campaigned COMPLETELY DIFFERENTLY. We'll never know, because the election was done with the EC, and GWB became president by the will of the people. :-)

Pure speculation on your part........I will stick with the facts. Thanks anyways.
