Sig, Yes, the human element is paramount, as in James Bond movies, we want that ability to feel "that could be me", and 20 million wannabee astronauts are sold and soon they are voters.

The overall odds are around 2% that a shuttle will not come back, based on 2 gone in a little over 100 flights. Miniaturised remotes are the wave of the future. With enough smarts to deal with most situations.

As for age of spatial majority...hard to say, some learn faster than others. Who to let go up? Anyone but religious people, we have enough wars on earth without having them in space.
