Always a great pleasure to be in the company of a clairvoyant.

Hey, it's fun to guess ahead, isn't it? Hope your bacon and eggs at the restaurant were good today. I assume you and the wife went out in that cold weather you are having.

Just a little bit left out of that. All the talk of the European Union as a third power bloc.

I deliberately left the EU out of the first post, John, so you could go, "Ah Ha!" and bring me up short with it. I no longer think they are going to be a major power, like China or the US. My reasoning is that this conglomeration of small states will be so tied up with their internal affairs that they will not be able to project any power on the world scene, in comparison to the Chinese and us.

Their commitment to a small Military means that they will not be projecting Force onto the world scene. Their political setup is so geared to erecting an external tariff wall so that they will not be able to really project as much economic power either. Limited trade in means limited trade out.

But Clinton navigated us superbly through the part of the zone on his watch;

I love this statement. I really do. It proves a point about you that I was hinting at yesterday. Your inability to admit that people on your side of the political fence are ever wrong. The point about it came up yesterday on the NYT. They make mistakes, and are human and slant things at times. You will never admit that they are anything but perfect. Everything Clinton ever did is perfect. This really hurts your credibility, because it is so obvious.

it's not at all likely the neocon dream of a peaceful democratic Iraq is going anywhere

Well, I hope this means you have "moved on" from complaining about us getting into the war, and that we are now going to discuss how much and what kind of a Government of Iraq we should get involved with.
