Gottfried, I bought the Memorex (hardly no-name) zero-cost-after- rebate power strip from Fry's. It was $5 before rebate. The rebate had officially expired, but Fry's assured me it was still good. Sure enough it was.

My wife uses the power strip to protect her sewing machine from surges. Modern sewing machines have a lot of delicate electronics in them. Should I be worried that the protection is inadequate?

BTW, my computers are protected by APC Back-UPS units. Wouldn't use anything else.
