Iran chose the Mullahs. That was self determination. If the Iranians get fed up enough, they can throw the Mullahs out. Our support for the Shah came about because we "saw" things as evils. What we see as "evil" and what an indigenous people might think are "evil" are often quite dissimilar. That's why native populations of the countries we "help" so frequently hate us and hate our assistance. Because our idea of "evil" is about what is good for us, the US of A, and not what is good for them. Let's not pretend.
