Watson, how many options did you keep after you got fired?

For the record:
When I informed IBM in early 99 that I intended to retire within a year's time, they laid a boat load of options on me in July 99. The strike price ($132) was fair market value on the date of the grant. They vest 25% per year. They were under water within months after the grant and have remained so. I retired in April 2000 as planned in excellent standing with ZERO options after 20 years of service. Gerstner, on the other hand, walked away with what I believe to be the better part of a BILLION dollars worth of options after less than 10 years of service. This reminds me of a story. Years ago, when you went to IBM manager's school, they use to give you an 8x10 glossy of old man Watson sitting at his desk in his study, his hands folded with a most distinguished look on his face. Up on the wall above the bookcase behind him was the old IBM motto "THINK". Now, they give you an 8x10 glossy of Lou-ser sitting at his desk counting a fist full of options with a silly ass grin on his face. Up on the wall above the bookcase is the new IBM motto "PLUNDER"
