They will suffer terror attacks no matter what they do, unless they vow to switch to Islam and agree to setting up an Islamic state (not out of the range of short term possibilities). They may blame them on the US, but it won't be that, this is radical Islam against everyone else and unfortunately for everyone else, most of everyone else refuses to see the declaration of war properly. Global economics are what they are. While manufacturing jobs are relatively easy to transport across borders, jobs in marketing, sales, research and development, distribution are much more difficult to move. The US has already seen a significant shift of the manufacturing jobs to overseas markets, whether they be in Mexico or China. US workers are vastly better off, because they are further down the road and also because the real cost of production in the US is a fraction of what it is in Europe. What the Europeans need to worry about are the balance of trade between the US and Old Europe. If the scales start to tip against the Europeans or the scales begin to carry less weight, the effect, I believe will be much more severe on Europe than on the US.
