But, as a responsible parent, you need to draw the line.
For instance, you don't allow your daughter to play with your gun, or to play with matches, or to walk out into a busy street.
There are some wrong decisions for which the prize isn't wisdom, it is death or dismemberment.
The Arabs are a couple of hundred, or thousand, years behind the evolution curve. It is going to be a long time until they are able to understand how to govern themselves. The Arab dictators realize this.
You have to hope that the Arab dictators are benevolent, but, in the case of Iraq, the leader is a threat, not only to his own people, but to the rest of the world.
You can't count on the other Arab nations to get rid of their own worst enemy, Saddam, because they are too busy running the other way, and they don't know any better. Seems like wisdom is lacking in that part of the world.
So, like always, it is up to America's sons and daughters to keep most of the world free, and safe for democracy. |
