Enter "Goeddel" and "David" into separate search fields for issued U.S. patents, specify "inventor name", and it will return 82 issued patents.
Go to PubMed.... enter "Goeddel DV" into the search field, and it will return 178 publications, the majority of which have been published in the most prestigious, peer-review journals. PubMed misses some publications.
Genentech is STILL filing patent applications on which Dr. Goeddel is an inventor.
Given his contributions in cloning and expression, Dr. Goeddel was elected to the National Academy of Sciences. HGH, IFNalpha, IFNgamma, insulin and TPA, (1) scores of patients world-wide owe improved health to Dr. Goeddel and his collaborators, and (2) commercial success didn't hinge merely on cloning, but also on EXPRESSION.
