Because that's how those without alternative ideas continue to make themselves relevant. They warn and caution, making it appear those in office are acting recklessly (and that they should be consulting their predecessor), but they offer nothing new...
In the case of Albright, all she could say is "we need dialogue with N. Korea", without detailing what we should say, or what it would accomplish...
I mean, does she actually think that N. Korea doesn't know what the US is demanding?? It hardly requires giving them a face to face meeting (with the ability to say they "commanded" the US to meet with them) for them to do what they need to do..
Let them pass it through back-channels that they are going to abide by the 1994 agreement, with inspections and verification, and THEN we can talk..
Until then we should essentially ignore N. Korea like we ignore a spoiled child. They ARE contained, and they have little of geo-political value that threatens Western economies.
And furthermore, their demographic trend is not nearly as expansive as it the Muslim world, where hundreds of millions of young people equate to market opportunities, or eventually, martyrdom as they take revenge for being "left behind" by the West...
