christine - you and andrew both had me crossing myself.
demonology and domonatrix?! i think i understand your veiled reference,
though i might have searched for another word. talk about "mean"!(g)
anyway, yeah it's something like that. i might prefer to answer that one
privately if that's allright. in the mean time, from things you've said i
thought you might like this poem -

raped
robbed of her name
but the voice remains
to rise
in strength and love
in beauty and tragedy
all the world
from light to dark
close your eyes
reclaim your soul
the joker weaves her spell
the garden awaits
never lost
but taken away
darkness weaves a cutting thread
a spiral encompassing

claim your stead

after writing it, i had to go look stead up in the dictionary. i didn't know
what it meant and could only think of steed like a horse, which didn't make
much sense. she could claim her horse, sure, but that wouldn't be much of a
claim after the rest of the poem. stead fits.

i'm glad you liked the other one. desiree wasn't a girlfriend. we were both
otherwise occupied at the time. maybe that's one reason the memory is so good.
none of the ugly fights and recriminations that can accompany the end of a
relationship. i went back to sf(from a stay in la) and she off to nyc. just
memories of long, companionable hours together going to lunch, softball games
and dancing. oh, and one fleeting kiss goodnight. sounds about as romantic
as her name.(g) it was fun. maybe that explains the fantasy and letting go.
