We should re-think our commitment to NATO from the ground up. Not only is it expensive but its raison d'etre, the threat of the Soviet military monolith, no longer exists.

Given the "support" we've gotten from the French and the Germans on Iraq, why should we continue to commit our resources to protecting against a threat which is non-existent?

Who will attack Western Europe in the foreseeable future such that our military might is required to defend it?
