remember that useless IPO in Dec? 05:33 ET Seagate Tech could face pressures beyond its stock market woes -- Barron's (STX) 9.00: EMC's drive to reduce component costs could negatively impact Seagate Technology, reports Barron's. About 90% of EMC's disc drives have been coming from Seagate, but Hitachi Global Storage Tech recently passed EMC's stern tests to qualify as a second source of the giant 146 gigabyte drives used in EMC arrays. The Hitachi business could soon become a serious rival for Seagate. Article indicates that EMC may not be the only enterprise account where Seagate faces renewed competition. STX has fallen 25% since its Dec IPO at $12 a share.
