WASHINGTON (AP)--White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Monday that Iraq's promised acceptance of U-2 surveillance flights does nothing to promote the goal of disarmament.

McClellan said "The bottom line is the president is interested in disarmament. This does nothing to change that."

The comment came after Iraq sent a letter to U.N. weapons inspectors approving the use of U.S.-made U-2 surveillance planes, something Baghdad had been resisting until now.
