I was thinking that the NATO response could easily be taken as racist, but I was afraid to post that because I might get me another strike. I thought not letting Turkey into the EU was a problem, but this is a real insult, especially when one considers the important role Turkey played in flanking the Soviet Union and hence unifying Germany!

Please acknowledge the fact that Germany will send Patriot missiles to Turkey.

Germany nonetheless said that it and the Netherlands would jointly supply Patriot missile systems to Turkey

To add further irony (I am just short of writing "schizophrenic touch") to the situation the opposing NATO members were lectured by German Gen. Harald Kujat, chairman of NATO's military committee, on the real danger facing Turkey. According to the British defense minister Mr. Kujat "convinced members that Turkey's concerns are legitimate and the threat is real."
