Joe - I am considering taking the tax loss sale on this run up. Do you think Novell will be higher or lower on August 28 1997 (31 days from a sale tomorrow)? I know you do not know the answer but the way I figure it is that most of the tax loss selling should come in the last week of September or during October. This will (and should) move this stock lower...we all know that the fundamentals really have not changed (for Novell) and will not get better until Q2 1998 (according to CEO Schmidt!).

The way I figure it is based on a two prong approach. Sell now or real soon and take advantage of this short term bounce......buy in latter at a lower price 31 days from when you sell. Take the tax loss....maintain the position with a buy back when all the institutional tax loss selling occurs.

Have I missed something???

There is however a large open interest in the August option contracts...I wonder if this has or will have any impact on the move we saw today?
