re: Rolling Stones in Vegas:
A FINE show, marred by only a couple of sound system glitches (most notable on "Monkey Man", fittingly enough for this board!) Best I can remember, the set included
Start Me Up It's Only Rock and Roll Street Fighting Man Don't Stop Monkey Man Let It Bleed Midnight Rambler Can't Always Get What You Want Tumbling Dice Thru and Thru Happy Honky Tonk Woman Gimme Shelter Can't You Hear Me Knocking Sympathy For the Devil Satisfaction (on the B-Stage): Before They Make Me Run Like a Rolling Stone Brown Sugar (encore) Jumping Jack Flash
Although the band was outstanding, I have a minor beef that they let Susan Tedeschi, the back up act, play a bit too long (about 45 minutes, 30 would have more than sufficed). The band was focused and in excellent form. Supporting players, including Chuck Leavell on piano and Bobby Keyes on sax were superb (Keyes stood out on "Brown Sugar" and "Can't You Hear Me Knocking"), as was back-up singer Lisa Fischer (especially on Gimme Shelter). The middle part of the show was the best, especially the "Let It Bleed" album focus segment (Midnight Rambler, Let It Bleed, Can't Always Get What You Want), Gimme Shelter, and of course (in Vegas), Tumbling Dice. "Fever in da Funkhouse" indeed!<G>
Here's a link to the Vegas local press accounts, as well as a picture of Keith and Ronnie Wood.
