Eric or anyone,
Can you explain what the rule is about taking taking a tax loss on trades within 30 days. I've heard it as the wash rule or something. Do you get some benefit from holding a stock for 30 days and then selling it or vice versa (not repurchasing a stock for a specified number of days?) I've heard it mentioned several times before, but I didn't know if it applied to individuals or institutionals.
