Your points are valid and I share some with you. I don't want to be outwitted as we try to do what I believe is good for everyone in the long run. That said I have some disagreements with a few things you mention.

Forget the Germans for now - The French and Russians both have a vested interest (financial) in what happens. I believe they will come around at some point but the only hand I would feed would be the Russians. This isn't the first time France has turned its back on us and I would make damn sure that there was a cost associated with that decision.

A revolt in Saudi Arabia may not be the worst thing. It all depends on who leads that revolt. The closer we are to the situation the more influence we can have. I don't view the Saudis as friends.

North Korea is a known problem - that in itself is good. Its not like they're going to be able to slip under the radar with nuclear weapons when the eye in the sky is watching IMO. Should they decide to continue with their weapons program, they are telling us that they have no problem with endangering the globe as long as hurts us. With that in mind I wouldn't deploy troops. I would target them with missiles from subs, battleships etc. and bomb them with impunity if need be. Screw civilian casualties.....we're talking about the future of the globe which far outweighs N. Koreas entire population.

I know this for sure. If we stay here at home and don't put a stop to some of the issues we've talked about they wont go away - they will get worse. Until we have a weapon that renders nuclear weapons worthless we MUST stop the spread especially when we seem to be the target of those weapons.

<<We are not economically strong at the moment... Confidence in the dollar is not at it's best and the trend in its value is now down... and in the middle of this we are going to war? Not smart. Definitively not smart.>>

We weren't in WWII either and had it not been for us and a bad winter on the Russian front we would all be making BMW's right now.

<<what if Saddam burns the wells, just before leaving>>

I'm sure that will happen.....I just pray that he doesn't unleash chemical and biological weapons as well.
