Norhtern CA. What do you mean things are getting cheaper in the ba? Are housing prices going down?

I'm in San Mateo area on the peninsula and yeah housing prices are falling- not as fast as rents which are in the basement and likely to be there for years.

Housing price declines don't show up in the statistics as accurately as I'd like- not sure why. I don't trust the RE industry and any stats they put out. On my street in 99 there was maybe one house for sale in the entire neighborhood for a 6 mos period and it went for $700K which was $100K over ask. Now we have at least 20 houses for sale around here all around $600K but if you ask me the price the really end up selling for is in the 5s somewhere. I don't see any catalyst to hold these prices up in the next 2 years either, I think they will continue to fall.
