When I was researching my master's thesis a zillion years ago, I spent what seemed like months in the nether regions of Yale Medical library. I took a freight elevator four flights down into the basement and would spend days looking through old journals. My arms were bitten up to the elbows by some strange kind of book-inhabiting insect.

But I decided that if I do come back after I die, I wouldn't mind being one of 'em...
