Joking aside, I think the public's fondness for sound bites is being exploited by the troublemakers of the world. They know that they can get away with anything that requires a detailed analysis to refute. Too many people look at Iraq and think, "oh, they've been in the headlines for a lot of years now, this is just more of the same." Few seem to want to hear what was agreed to, what obligations Iraq breached, and what the consequences of those breaches might be. Just boil it down to a quick summary, "this side wants war and this other side wants peace", and it's easy to avoid the unpleasant task of thinking about what Iraq's actions have been and why Iraq is under these obligations to begin with.
Even if only half a dozen people read it, I will continue to post things that I believe ought to be read in their entirety. |
