Ted, <I don't think they were when Bush made his infamous speech but they probably are now.>
Like I said before, that's almost as ludicrous as saying North Korea didn't want nukes until Bush called them "evil." All this stems from the notion that a strong stance against terrorism causes terrorism, and that only through appeasement will terrorism finally be eradicated.
I guess you guys want to believe that. However, due to our past dealings in the ME, I don't dispute we've been in danger of terrorist attacks right along. But thanks to Mr. Bush, the terrorists are more likely to be working together.....the enemy of my enemy is my friend.......and that can make them even more effective.
<Saddam is secular/non religious........OBL is a religious ideologue. Think oil and water.>
No, think "personality cult." In EVERY single evil regime of modern history, you can find characteristics common to personality cults. Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Kim Il Sung, Castro, Saddam, and Osama, to name just a few. In such cults, there is an element of religious zeal, and there is an element of Orwellian secularism. It's a mix that creates the worst horrors you can imagine.
Does that seem too far fetched for you to believe?
Yes.......there was no religious fervor with any of the people in your group. For an example, Stalin tried to kill off the Russian Orthodox church. IMO there is a significant difference between those above and the religous nuts like OBL.
