My observation is more limited: since the matter is frequently put in terms of the outrage of forcing someone to surrender autonomy, the point is that it does not limit your freedom to any considerable degree, nor for very long, and is similar,in that sense, to other things permissible given a compelling state interest, like being held as a material witness, or being drafted. |
