Funnily enough, Jim, I do not consider my current portfolio the best one. AMD e.g. is a traditional one and I have been stubborn holding on to it.

The idea of a model portfolio is attractive though and I would consider TXN, STM, Samsung (if I can find a way to buy thru US broker??), ADI, IFX, PHG, NEC, LLTC and AMD. INTC though imo overvalued should be in it too, because it will certainly go up as the market does.

I will have an attempt at a portfolio and maybe we can track it against the SMH. The SMH has the disadvantage (advantage to some) that it includes the semiconductor manufacturing equipment cos (AMAT, ASML ....) and I would prefer a pure semi play for the portfolio. Diversification can be reached by other means.

(although they are joined at the hip:)

How do I do it? Take a $ 10000 portfolio and divvy it up? Any ideas?

Cheers
Cor

PS I am glad I started this thread, it starts getting interesting.
