I believe the average P/E on the Nikkei at the peak was 85. Roughly twice the peak SPX. In addition, they had a massive real estate bubble, that is still being written off. Wasn't a square block in Tokyo valued about equivalent with the whole city of LA at one point? Or was it the whole state of California. Anyway, maybe it is a little different, at least in magnitude.
