It's worth noting that the military is not revealing the true costs of this war. In an effort to hide the added costs in the budget, a reliable source has told me that military purchases of spare parts have been cut to the bone but will eventually have to show up. In other words, they are risking the functioning of their hardware in order to make overall budget increases look less than they really are.

If the public knew the true costs of this war, together with the reality that once it starts, it will take at least three years to finish (a conservative estimate), there might be very little enthusiasm, especially since the tax cuts place most of the future burden of the added costs on people who can least afford to pay.
