as much as I do not agree with the French position re: Iraq.
the above statement, I trust, is a passionate reaction clearly wrong.
i.e. Burgundy... The Pinot Noirs from California and Oregon are a joke compared to the Real Thing...(Carneros district excepted, which has a slim hope --and many of the vines were grafted from clippings from a small area in Burgundy France)... My condolences to those vinters that are trying to reach the quality of those of the Domaine de la Romane-Conti (Richebourg, La Tache, Echezaux, Grand Echezaux, Vosne Romane and Romanee St. Vivant) --and even those of lesser pedigree... still short by a long kilometer
as for the compulsive need to produce 100 % Cabernet Sauvignon, and worse, consuming them when they are still, clearly "green" is a waste of wonderful resources... i.e. California Cabernets ought to be blended in the tradition of Bordeaux, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec...
THEN and only then.... your statement could be partially true and with the test of time to prove it -gg...
as for the Chardonays.... I will give you 1/4 a point for those. (and only the unfiltered ones fermented in oak), and even then... they still fall a little short of the great Chauvigny Montrachet, Mersault, Chasagne Montrachet...
Other than that.... You can fry the French as if they were potatoes...
