Saddam only responds to credible threats

This is a key point many liberals seem to be missing. The Iraq situation had been totally ignored by the previous administration because they didn't have the will to do what had to be done.

Without the military buildup in the Gulf, Saddam would still be thumbing his nose at us. Unfortunately, we can't afford to do the military buildup (again) and still come away with Saddam armed to the teeth. He would have us moving 100,000s of troops in and out of the Gulf every couple of years if we were stupid enough to fall for it.

It is all coming to a halt in the next couple of months...
