It's not that hard. Even if they are not the best of buddies (maybe they are too) both hate the US. Saddam is probably not dumb enough to use his WMD outright, but he could easily toss some to the Al-queda crazies that would use it in a heartbeat.

At the same time, Al-queda does not have a chance of developing WMD in caves...it takes a nation state.

Couple that with the fact that Saddam is a problem all by himself, that would get exponentially worse if he develops nukes, and that he is in constant violation of the UN etc. and he is definitely a place to start.

A post-Hussein Iraq is also seen as a way to introduce some stability into the whole region.

How is it that you don't see this?

I see what you want but it makes little sense to me.

There will be no stability in the ME because there are several dictators to take Saddam's place plus there is no peace in Palestine.

I don't think Saddam has as many WMD as you think and the ones he has he's not about to give to al Qaeda...........the reason why: Saddam's not a sharing kind of guy.

Frankly, Saddam doesn't care all that much about the US; he may hate us but I don't think he will go out of the way to get us.....it would cost him too much money.

On the otherhand, OBL's hate burns bright and strong.....he will do what ever it takes to get us as evidenced by the WTC. He's audacious, he's clever, he's very bright, he's charismatic and he's an idologue. You want the anti Christ.....he's your man.
