I corrected my assertion regarding ISS rescue several days ago: the orbital plane difference was too great, although the altitude was possibly within reach.

As far as the NASA/Military imaging assets are concerned, I stand firm. Think for a second: some of the home videos shown on TV (taken with 1 inch video camera lenses) had as much or more resolution than what they said was the Military photo. Do you really believe that is as good as they can do? Maybe we should just stand a soldier on a mountain in the SW desert with a cheap digital video camera and download pictures to the internet.

The public is rarely if ever told the whole truth.
