Willie has been a buffoon and a cheat for decades. He was elected to the state assembly from SF in 1964 and re-elected until 1996 when term limits forced him to run for SF mayor, which he won. He was state Assembly Speaker seemingly forever (1980-1996). Being a buffoon and a cheat is no disadvantage in SF as long as you mouth the right politically correct words to the right groups.

According to TV news, the recall drive against Gray is going to be serious and is likely to get enough signatures (900,000).
