Serious Question:

Let's assume that the MOST COMPETENT president you can envision had been elected in '00 -- pick anyone you wish.

How long do you think it should have taken THAT president and his DOD to eliminate Al Qaeda or substantially eliminate its threat to us?

Serious Answer:

Let me answer you by asking a question: do you feel safer then you did right after 9/11? I have a business meeting in CA at the beginning of March......I don't want to go. Some friends are getting married cross country this summer......I'd rather blow it off.

I never thought going after al Qaeda would be an easy job but I never believed that two years later they would be acting with such impunity. If there was just the perception that our gov't was doing what it could to bring the assholes to justice, I would be happy but that's not the case at all. Bush's focus is Iraq and nothing else.

As for who could do a better job, any number of names pop to the surface. I am hoping one of them will take the lead. But one thing I am clear about, partisan crap aside, I have lost all confidence in the current administration to the point where I worry about what disaster they will come up with next. Some days I think that they are doing this intentionally to meet the goals of some weird Machiavellian plot..........their behavior is that inexplicable to me.

And this is more than just abstract concerns. On 1 January, I was up 24% on my portfolio for the prior six months. In a month and half, I am back to even. And let me point out that I worked my butt off to get that 24% profit. I am good at what I do but its impossible to stay afloat in this market because there is no stability. The market wants to know that the house is in order and someone responsible is in charge. That confidence was lost long ago.

Let me put it still another way.....if George Bush worked for any of the three firms I've worked for in my life, he would be getting sacked right now.

So that's my serious answer to you. If you can't come back with anything but your partisan spin, please don't bother.....its really old right now.

TIA.
