I completely agree with you, especially the "no upper limit". The government and AARP have gotten away with this "it is not a tax" baloney for along time on SS. That is how they keep that upper income limit imposed.

But as every generation goes by, Fica becomes more and more of a tax in the same tradition as welfare or any other redistribution of wealth scheme. It should be taxed in the same way as welfare.

The AARP doesn't want this because the wealthy will push on congress to get rates lowered and will likely be successful.
