reaper, don't go dissing Clifford. There's a lot of knowledge/real life stuff in the Clifford ouevre. Let me run a few titles by you: Clifford Gets a Job Clifford and the Big Storm Clifford Buys Puts Plus, he battles a constant need for appropriate housing, often enounters authority figures who need help from a big red dog, and constantly forces his family to shell out cash to temporarily soothe others while never attacking the root cause of the problems (he's a giant red dog!).
