Ok, thanks. Now that we know, answer me this...

The PC graphics system already uses a complete frame buffer. This is the "1, 2 or 2Meg" you see in the feature bullets for graphics cards. PC graphics "paint" into the buffer, often quite slowly and thus must be fully buffered. The newer architectures use more frame buffer for display list, texture maps and the like. So what is the big deal about decoding interlace into the frame buffer and why is/was Intel so adamat about receiving the encoded digital stream in progressive order?
