So do you think more Iraqi civilians would get hurt in a surgical war or in 10+ more years of sanctions (possible even expanded sanctions if the doves get their way)?

I think Bush has won...he can drive nearly any condition he wants. That's what's is so infuriating. He has Iraq where he can drive most if not all of the conditions that would contain weaponry, and allow lifting of the sanctions...peacefully. But it's not enough. He never had any intention of solving the problem peacefully. That's why Powell has turned color...his boss told him that we're going anywhich way.

There is nothing in my opinion that Hussein could have done from the start to avert war short of leaving the country. As obstacles are knocked down, more objections are found to take their place. And Blix is a windup doll by the way.

And finally, he has committed the US military and Rove probably has told him that he would lose the 2004 election if he turned back now.
